Terms and Conditions

When purchasing pet insurance through petinsurance.ie you will not receive advice or a recommendation from us for pet insurance. We may ask some questions to narrow down the selection of products that we will provide details on, but you will need to make your own choice as to whether to proceed and purchase the product. Petinsurance.ie charges an additional €4.95 to customers who buy through our call centre. This reflects the higher transactional cost involved. We also charge an administration fee of up to €3.95 to customers buying online and a postage fee of €3.50 to customers who request a hard copy policy and certificate.


Before you enter into a policy with us, you have a duty to disclose to us every material fact that you know, or a reasonable person in the circumstances could be expected to know, which is relevant to our decision whether to accept the risk of insurance and if so, on what terms. A material fact is any fact, medical or otherwise, which poses an increase in risk to us and likely to influence us in the assessment, acceptance or continuance of your insurance. Please note if you fail to disclose any material facts to us, this could invalidate your insurance cover.


We can provide an insurance quotation/policy based on the following terms and conditions:


  • Pre-Existing Medical Conditions - There is no cover under the terms of this policy for ongoing or pre-existing medical conditions suffered by your pet. Veterinary expenses are excluded if at the time of booking you are aware of or have been advised of the need for treatment or prescribed medication.
  • There is no liability cover under this policy if at the time of booking the policy you are aware of a circumstance that may give rise to a claim under this policy.
  • That the pet resides with you at the address you declared in the booking process.
  • The declared breed of pet must match that of the pet stated on your certificate of insurance, which will be validated by your treating vet.
  • If your pet is a dog, you confirm that it is not on the unacceptable breeds list as specified on the website.
  • Your Right to Cancel - We offer a Premium Refund Guarantee on all our policies cancelled within the 14 Day cooling off period, whereby you may return the documentation to us and upon receipt of the policy, provided you have not made a claim, we will refund you your Insurance Premium.
  • Unless stated otherwise quotations provided by the system for new insurances are valid for 7 days from date of issue.
  • Use of SMS - You consent to the use of the mobile telephone number you have provided ("the mobile telephone") for the purpose of allowing Blue Insurance Limited to notify you of your pet insurance policy information relating to your online booking.
  • You hereby confirm that the mobile telephone number you have provided is your number or that of a person named in the booking process and you hereby indemnify Blue Insurance against any claims or liabilities which may arise in the event that the number provided is incorrect or is that of an unrelated third party.
  • You accept that text messages are distributed via the Short Message Service systems of third party mobile phone network providers and, therefore, Blue Insurance Limited cannot be held responsible for the successful and timely arrival of the text message to the mobile telephone.
  • Blue Insurance Limited does not guarantee full availability or performance of this service and does not accept any liability for transmission delays.
  • Blue Insurance Limited will only use the number of the mobile telephone in accordance with its Privacy Policy, the terms of which you accept, and to send important information in relation to your booking
  • SMS Fees - Blue Insurance Limited charge a €0.99c fee for this service and this fee is non refundable. Blue is not responsible for any additional charges made by mobile phone network providers for the provision of this service
  • We will automatically renew your policy each year provided we still have the correct credit/debit card details from you. We will advise you six weeks from renewal that you policy will be renewed on the renewal date. If we no longer have the correct payment details we will contact you to obtain the correct details. You will still have the right not to renew your policy by contacting us within 14 days of renewal of your pet insurance policy.
